Stony Lake Area, Michigan

For the better half of a century, Stony Lake has established itself as a quiet summer community
that draws individuals who share a common love for the lakes and the land. Many are the number
of fourth- generation offspring who share their delight in the same people, places and sports that
their parents enjoyed. And just as Stony Lake spent years growing into a resort community, it is
now growing to attract more year-around residents who appreciate the bare trees and cold gray
waters of winter. And if the chill gets too deep, it's only a short stroll to the Stony Lake Store for
a cup of coffee and a heart-warming conversation.

In 1924, the American Youth Foundation established Camp Miniwanca at Stony Lake which still
services the youth from all 50 states and Canada.

The area's most popular spot, in any season, is the Lake Michigan beach. Especially as the days
grow warm, the beach draws a crowd to witness the sun as it casts its fiery rays across a
panorama of blue skies and aquamarine waters. For all those people who look to the west at the
day's end, perhaps they're there to see one last instant of beauty in a day, or perhaps they go to
give something back, like dreams and wishes, to the golden globe which has glided through the
sky since dawn.
